Welcome! We invite you to read about our employment opportunities. We occasionally have staff openings and usually advertise through the Log Cabin Democrat. You might also check their web site at www.thecabin.net. The best way to be considered if an opening exists is to have a current application on file. We typically review all applications up to 45 days old. You are invited to read the following information to determine if you would like to apply. If the answer is Yes, please stop by 2736 Prince St. during our open hours to pick up an application. Remember, only high school graduates may apply.
If you are interested in our hours of operation, please check under hours on this website. At closing our clean up takes approximately one hour. Although we offer flexible scheduling and work around college activities, second jobs and other things, most of the hours would be on the weekends during the winter. (During the summer your hours would be spread out over the whole week.) There are no guarantees on the hours you work, however we do take serious consideration of your needs. We want long-term, part-time employees to add to our small staff and we strive to make this job beneficial to you and Playworld. If you are called in for an interview, more details on hours will be given at that time. NOTE: It is important to list the hours you would be available along with the approximate number of hours you need/want in the appropriate area on your application form.
Our goal is to find a perfect fit for us and you. Sometimes that leaves a good applicant not being called for an interview. It is important to fill out your application in full; don't leave any blanks.
Hours - The positions we usually hire for will work anywhere from 1-3 days per week. If you are working just one day, it will most likely be on a Saturday, our busiest day of the week. If you are working more than one day, you could be working 2 of the 3 weekend days and one weeknight. It is a very rare occasion that you would work all three weekend days or more than one weeknight. You must be available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to be considered. We are closed on most Mondays during the fall and winter months but not all of them. We also open during our closed hours through the week for school field trips. The following is just an example of the types of winter shifts we schedule.
Tuesday through Thursday - 2:45 PM until about 9:15 PM / 3:30 PM until about 9:15 PM
Fridays - 11 AM until about 4:30 PM / 4 PM until about 11 PM / 5 PM until about 11 PM / 6 PM - 11 PM
Saturdays - 9:45 AM until about 4 PM / 10 AM until about 4:30 /12 NOON until about 6 PM / 4 PM until about 11 PM
Sundays - 12:45 PM until about 7 PM / 1:30 PM until about 7 PM
Please note, there are some occasions where we have a shift work up to 60 minutes longer for special projects.
Remember, these shifts vary according to your availability, time off requests, and how busy we are with parties and groups. The following descriptions tell a little about each job. Although you may have primary responsibilities with one of these, you could be called upon to do the others as well. Please read them carefully and indicate on your application which position you are interested in.
Position: Party Hostess/Front Counter:
Are you energetic with an upbeat personality? You must be able to work with kids and adults alike and have strong organizational skills. The party hostess also "performs" a small skit with our mascot, Sparky, for most parties. If you are an organized, people person, this is perfect for you. If you are thinking YES, stop for a moment and consider this position a little longer. It requires you to occasionally work under pressure to ensure parties are called ON TIME. The responsibility for a happy party experience falls completely on you. You must be "UP" with your last party like it was your first party. Doing an OK job is not good enough for this position ... it really requires an energetic, happy person with the ability to work under time pressure and act up with our mascot. If you have the ability and a willing attitude, then this could be the job for you. Still interested? Read on to see what a party hostess might do when not doing a birthday party.
The front counter is a customer service position that involves several duties. Some of them are cashier, waiting on customers trading in their tickets for prizes in the redemption area, booking birthday parties, answering the phone, helping enforce our rules, and helping us keep our high standards of customer service intact.
Position: Kitchen
This position requires making pizzas and sandwiches, cashier duties, busing the dining area, serving cokes, icees and other menu items and then cleaning the dining and kitchen areas after closing. We do not fry anything on our menu so our kitchen area is "grease free" and an enjoyable area to work. The kitchen employees also wait on our miniature golf customers. Sound easy? Yes, there are times when things are slow, but we also have rushes of people at peak times. You must be able to work under pressure and constantly be moving. We strive for a high level of customer service and quality of our products, and your addition to our staff must ensure that process continues. You must also have the ability to clean according to our standards ... which is not hard with the right attitude. If you are still interested, ask for an application today!
Position: Mascot/Front Counter
Because of the size of our costume, you have to be between 5'7" - 6'2" to pre-qualify for this position. Our mascot is a well loved dalmation pup that has a playful personality. YOU HAVE TO LIKE TO ENTERTAIN PEOPLE AND BE QUICK ON YOUR FEET to do this job. IT REQUIRES AN UPBEAT PERSONALITY and the ability to act spontaneously. Our mascot, SPARKY, makes appearances in birthday parties and on occasions, around the facility and dining area. Because Sparky does not talk, you have to be entertaining without speaking, and that means a lot of body language. We can train you for this position, but it is up to you to make it work. Because most of our parties are on weekends, you obviously must be available during these days to fulfill this position's requirement.
